Spark is a pioneering homegrown web app that embraces an innovative approach to student success technology – one that empowers students with personalized behavioral analytics to make informed decisions about attaining their personal goals while improving access to campus services through data-driven targeting. This session will argue for the necessity of this approach in serving today's students at scale and fulfilling the promise of a university degree. We'll cover Spark's philosophy, design, and how the emergence of a collaborative campus data sharing culture was a prerequisite for its development. You’ll leave understanding how user-centered design, outreach, coalition building, governance, and an entrepreneurial approach to iteration can help overcome traditional barriers through collaboration, as they did for this innovative tool.
