Nick Hilbert, MSN, RN, is the Director of Quality and Patient Safety at UC San Diego Health. His passion for technology began early, working at a small-town computer store in rural Iowa— now he leads system-wide efforts focused on data, AI, process improvement, and Lean strategies to improve outcomes across the health system. He and his teams have helped UC San Diego Health achieve top national rankings by building dashboards, automation tools, and scalable systems that reduce burden and enhance care delivery. A co-author in The New England Journal of Medicine and Governor of the College of AI & Medicine (California Chapter), Nick’s work lives at the intersection of people, process, culture, tech, and AI — shaping a future driven by smart systems and #AIforGood.
