As AI vendors rapidly introduce new features without consulting institutions, the risks to security, compliance, and privacy grow significantly. Unapproved AI functionalities can introduce vulnerabilities, increasing the chances of data breaches and unauthorized access. These updates may also violate critical regulations like FERPA and HIPAA, complicating compliance and exposing institutions to legal risks.

Our institution fosters a campus wide data culture through MAPSS (Metrics & Analytics Promoting Student Success) and DataGPS Certificate programs, recognized as EDUCAUSE Horizon Report 2025 exemplars in Critical Digital Literacy. These initiatives develop technically adept, continuous learners among staff, faculty, and leadership through specialized tracks, business intelligence courses, and community forums. MAPSS combines data analytics with neuroscience-informed teaching to build data-savvy professionals.

When you are trying to craft a narrative, tell a story to help someone see a certain point of view, or simply trying to influence someone to go along with your proposal, using data can help your audience see your point. How you present that data is important to help your message stand out. This session will cover tips for putting together your story whether it is delivered via email, a presentation, a written report, or even informally in an elevator pitch.

Our campus established a technology leadership development program in 2015, combining classroom learning with leadership lessons and one-to-one mentorship. Over the past decade, we have graduated five cohorts and are completing our sixth. We have collaborated with our leadership to enhance the program's relevance and inclusivity, and we have adapted it to be more responsive to the evolving world. UCSF, long with many other UCs, have recently enabled to Zoom's AI Companion for our meetings. This talk will dive into the security and vetting process to enabling this feature, outline what type of data classification and conversation types are cleared for these type of calls, and explain what per cautions are implace to ensure our data security going forward.
