Automating National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Standardized Infection Ratio (SIR) Calculation in Scuba Data Warehouse for Enterprise Reporting and Zero Harm Initiatives

Body
Achieving Zero Harm by preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) is a priority for UC Health. The Standardized Infection Ratio (SIR) is the primary measure used by NHSN to risk-adjust HAIs, but access to protected health information (PHI) is restricted, limiting broad data accessibility. Additionally, no dynamic SIR data source existed in the Scuba Data Warehouse for enterprise reporting. To address this, we developed an automated tool, eliminating manual NHSN exports and processing.
