Sunapsis - An innovation platform to manage international student and scholar services

Body
In this discussion, we will provide an overview of the Sunapsis platform and introduce the background of the Sunapsis project at UCSD. We will then cover the project outline, including system configuration and data integration, as well as the challenges we have overcome. Additionally, we will highlight the accomplishments achieved so far.

Web Accessibility Top Ten

Body
Are you struggling to bring your website into compliance with laws, policies and guidelines on accessibility? Do you need to know more about the ADA, WCAG, and Section 508? Global Process Owner Model, How to prevent projects from failing

Body
More than 70% of business technology projects fail due to poor business requirements from functional stakeholders. One way of reversing this trend is empowering Global Process Owners (GPOs) to help prevent failures. As organizations transition business processes to Oracle Cloud and other SaaS solutions, true transformation requires more than just implementing the latest technology or relying on external system integrators.

Advanced SQL for Analytics

Body
Do you consider yourself okay with SQL but want to level up? This session will cover SQL functions that can be used for analytics. Most of these functions are available in ANSI SQL and thus work on most databases, but some functions will be specific to Oracle, Snowflake, and BigQuery (and perhaps other databases I haven't researched). We'll cover window functions, aggregations, pivoting, statistical functions, and even machine learning capabilities within SQL. Prepare to leave this session excited to impress your analytics stakeholders with more advanced ways of looking at data!

Our Data Lakehouse Architecture in GCP

Body
This talk will explain our Data Lakehouse tool and architecture stack that allows us to rapidly deliver data for AI, analytics, reporting, integrations, and more. We'll cover our use of Invoke for data ingestion, dbt for pipelines, BigQuery as a database, Looker as an analytics tool, and Vertex AI for data science. We'll also cover our medallion-like architecture within the data lakehouse.

Using AI to Predict Course Demand

Body
This session will walk through an AI use case where we needed to deliver a course demand prediction model in 5 weeks. We iterated quickly using one week agile sprints and used Google Cloud tools to accomplish this deliverable. We'll discuss the technical details of the data used in the model, GCP services used, and the end user data & results that we provided.

How To Launch an Overdue Project With High Expectations and High Visibility

Body

The panel will explore the challenges and complexity of launching a new website to modernize the platform for an organization after years of delays and changing requirements. Featuring multiple presenters, we will share how University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources migrated from a homegrown content management system to Drupal, addressed stakeholder expectations, managed promises, and delivered foundational products to over employees, academics, and volunteers.

AI Feature Creep: Enhancing Institutional Control in Vendor Management

Body
As AI vendors rapidly introduce new features without consulting institutions, the risks to security, compliance, and privacy grow significantly. Unapproved AI functionalities can introduce vulnerabilities, increasing the chances of data breaches and unauthorized access. These updates may also violate critical regulations like FERPA and HIPAA, complicating compliance and exposing institutions to legal risks.

Building an Accessible-first Component Library with Student Developers

Body
Web accessibility remains challenging, especially in education, where resources are limited. This presentation explores how component libraries can streamline accessible development by embedding Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) into reusable UI elements. This “trickle-down accessibility” approach ensures that student developers build inclusive websites without extensive accessibility training. By integrating accessibility directly into development workflows, teams can reduce manual audits and improve project consistency.

From Data to Impact: Scalable, Inclusive Strategies for Digital Literacy in Higher Ed

Body
Our institution fosters a campus wide data culture through MAPSS (Metrics & Analytics Promoting Student Success) and DataGPS Certificate programs, recognized as EDUCAUSE Horizon Report 2025 exemplars in Critical Digital Literacy. These initiatives develop technically adept, continuous learners among staff, faculty, and leadership through specialized tracks, business intelligence courses, and community forums. MAPSS combines data analytics with neuroscience-informed teaching to build data-savvy professionals.
