Revolutionizing Postpartum Discharge: Virtual Nursing’s One-to-Many Approach

Body
This innovative care model leverages virtual nursing to support the efficient discharge of moms and babies from postpartum care unit. By enabling one nurse to manage and assist multiple families simultaneously, the model streamlines the teaching process, expedites discharges, and ensures a safe forum for patients to ask questions and share concerns. This communal approach not only provides individualized care but also fosters a sense of shared experience, reassuring new mothers that they are not alone on their journey.

Rapid Innovation: A Comprehensive Digital Rounding Solution to Reinvigorate the Patient Experience

Body
In response to a directive, the Nursing Informatics and Salesforce engineering team developed a robust Digital Rounding Utility (DRU) to replace the existing patient experience tool. The project aimed to create a more efficient and integrated system to enhance patient care and streamline operations. Remarkably, within 60 days, we designed, built, and launched the initial version of DRU, featuring basic functionality, manual processes, and minimal reporting capabilities.

Empowering Faculty in the AI Era: Real Stories, Practical Tools, and How AI Can Transform Learning Ethically

Body
As generative AI rapidly reshapes higher education, faculty are looking for real, ethical, and practical ways to adapt. This session offers a firsthand look at how interdisciplinary courses at UCLA have successfully integrated AI—from biomedical sciences to humanities—while preserving academic integrity and improving student engagement. Attendees will explore proven strategies, tools, and frameworks used to empower faculty, redesign assignments, and support students in becoming critical users of AI.

Smarter, Faster, Better: How UC San Diego Health is Using AI to Save Time and Money

Body
UC San Diego Health is reimagining how healthcare systems operate by integrating artificial intelligence, automation, and real-time dashboards to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support high reliability. This session shares how our Clinical Quality Improvement and Patient Safety teams partnered with data and technology experts to streamline manual processes—such as quality measure abstraction and CMS reporting—through the use of large language models and smart dashboards.

From SSIS to DBT: A Modern Approach

Body
The previous SSIS/Python ETL was viewed as antiquated, disjointed and problematic for maintenance and reliability. A modern embedded data solution centered around a user defined data mart which would act as the catalyst for driving informed decision making and supporting prioritized initiatives from executive leaders was seen as the solution. There were two sets of goals, create a self-service data layer for ad hoc questions, a recurring reporting solution and support KPI metric dashboards.

Scaling a VERSAtile AI-Powered Platform for Research, Healthcare, Education, and Administration

Body
Versa, developed by our AI Tiger Team, is an enterprise-scale AI platform. Meant to secure access to frontier generative-AI (gen-AI) technologies, Versa enhances operations by streamlining text-based workflows for thousands of users. Versa is a platform of products: Versa API supports advanced AI research demands with protected clinical and business data; chatbot-style interactions with LLMs via Versa Chat and Versa Mobile, and our Versa Assistant RAG-based service supports development of dedicated, AI-powered interfaces for protected datastores, knowledgebases, and enterprise content.

Up and downs to achieve a successful business continuity plan

Body
This presentation provides insights into how our department created a successful business continuity plan after many years of fits and adjustments. Rounds of evolving user training over the years attempted to transition users to our vision without success until the gaps with users were isolated using virtual machines. This allowed our department to adjust testing scenarios to simulate a disaster and arrive at solutions where our users could use any device (a provided device or BYOD) in a Zero Trust environment and continue doing their work.

UCLA Data Lakehouse in Action

Body
While university data held immense value, its fragmentation limited its utility. We built a modern cloud platform, centralizing data and establishing a single source of truth. This demo will illustrate how we centralized disparate data, creating a unified foundation for actionable insights. Our Agenda: Cloud Migration: Secure, scalable platform integrating diverse data sources into a single source of truth. Automated Pipelines: Collection, Erichment, and Curation ensuring data consistency. Self-Service Access: User-friendly interfaces for all stakeholders.

Modernizing Specimen Management: Overcoming Challenges with the UC Digital Donor Library

Body
The UC Digital Donor Library (DDL) is a system designed to help UC medical school campuses including UCD, UCI, UCLA, UCSD, and UCSF manage every stage of anatomical donations—from donor registration and preparation to inventory tracking, allocation, and final disposition. Originally launched in 2008 as a desktop application, the DDL underwent a major modernization effort in 2023 to a secure Cloud based solution. In this session, we’ll cover: • Program Overview: Overview of DDL and the key challenges faced during implementation. • Lessons Learned: User feedback management and validation.

Building Bridges, Not Silos: How Strong Campus Partnerships Impact IT Success

Body

This presentation explores how strong campus partnerships influence IT and change management success. Attendees will learn practical ways to build and nurture campus partnerships, get insights on how to effectively leverage relationships with key campus partners to achieve outcomes, and have the opportunity to apply their learnings within the session.
