Automating National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Standardized Infection Ratio (SIR) Calculation in Scuba Data Warehouse for Enterprise Reporting and Zero Harm Initiatives

Body
Achieving Zero Harm by preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) is a priority for UC Health. The Standardized Infection Ratio (SIR) is the primary measure used by NHSN to risk-adjust HAIs, but access to protected health information (PHI) is restricted, limiting broad data accessibility. Additionally, no dynamic SIR data source existed in the Scuba Data Warehouse for enterprise reporting. To address this, we developed an automated tool, eliminating manual NHSN exports and processing.

Revolutionizing Postpartum Discharge: Virtual Nursing’s One-to-Many Approach

Body
This innovative care model leverages virtual nursing to support the efficient discharge of moms and babies from postpartum care unit. By enabling one nurse to manage and assist multiple families simultaneously, the model streamlines the teaching process, expedites discharges, and ensures a safe forum for patients to ask questions and share concerns. This communal approach not only provides individualized care but also fosters a sense of shared experience, reassuring new mothers that they are not alone on their journey.

Rapid Innovation: A Comprehensive Digital Rounding Solution to Reinvigorate the Patient Experience

Body
In response to a directive, the Nursing Informatics and Salesforce engineering team developed a robust Digital Rounding Utility (DRU) to replace the existing patient experience tool. The project aimed to create a more efficient and integrated system to enhance patient care and streamline operations. Remarkably, within 60 days, we designed, built, and launched the initial version of DRU, featuring basic functionality, manual processes, and minimal reporting capabilities.

Our Data Lakehouse Architecture in GCP

Body
This talk will explain our Data Lakehouse tool and architecture stack that allows us to rapidly deliver data for AI, analytics, reporting, integrations, and more. We'll cover our use of Invoke for data ingestion, dbt for pipelines, BigQuery as a database, Looker as an analytics tool, and Vertex AI for data science. We'll also cover our medallion-like architecture within the data lakehouse.

Innovate Your Disaster Recovery: A Structured ISO Review of Disaster Recovery Plans Anchored in UC IS-12 Policy

Body
In an era of operational unpredictability, climate disruptions, and escalating cyber threats, a robust Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) is not optional, it is existential. This session introduces a structured ISO-style review framework for evaluating DRPs against the University of California's IS-12 policy. Through a practical checklist covering both procedural and technical dimensions, participants will learn to assess alignment with institutional goals, identify gaps, and verify the presence of cybersecurity risk considerations.
