UCLA Data Lakehouse in Action

Body
While university data held immense value, its fragmentation limited its utility. We built a modern cloud platform, centralizing data and establishing a single source of truth. This demo will illustrate how we centralized disparate data, creating a unified foundation for actionable insights. Our Agenda: Cloud Migration: Secure, scalable platform integrating diverse data sources into a single source of truth. Automated Pipelines: Collection, Erichment, and Curation ensuring data consistency. Self-Service Access: User-friendly interfaces for all stakeholders.

ChatGSPP: Building an AI Assistant for Website Navigation and Academic Program Information

Body
ChatGSPP is an AI-powered chatbot developed by the Goldman School of Public Policy that intelligently navigates information about our faculty, staff, programs, and research initiatives. This interactive demo will showcase how we've implemented a conversational interface that analyzes user queries, retrieves appropriate content from our existing web resources, and delivers responses with proper source attribution.

Sunapsis - An innovation platform to manage international student and scholar services

Body
In this discussion, we will provide an overview of the Sunapsis platform and introduce the background of the Sunapsis project at UCSD. We will then cover the project outline, including system configuration and data integration, as well as the challenges we have overcome. Additionally, we will highlight the accomplishments achieved so far.

Advanced SQL for Analytics

Body
Do you consider yourself okay with SQL but want to level up? This session will cover SQL functions that can be used for analytics. Most of these functions are available in ANSI SQL and thus work on most databases, but some functions will be specific to Oracle, Snowflake, and BigQuery (and perhaps other databases I haven't researched). We'll cover window functions, aggregations, pivoting, statistical functions, and even machine learning capabilities within SQL. Prepare to leave this session excited to impress your analytics stakeholders with more advanced ways of looking at data!

Using AI to Predict Course Demand

Body
This session will walk through an AI use case where we needed to deliver a course demand prediction model in 5 weeks. We iterated quickly using one week agile sprints and used Google Cloud tools to accomplish this deliverable. We'll discuss the technical details of the data used in the model, GCP services used, and the end user data & results that we provided.

A Data-Driven Approach to Wildfire Health Risk Mitigation

Body
Our team needed to integrate diverse data streams to dynamically identify patients at risk and proactively distribute tailored resources to empower them to protect their respiratory health. Our team needed to identify when high risk patients with respiratory conditions were experiencing poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke. We worked collaboratively with clinical subject matter experts (SME) to define the appropriate target patient population and air quality thresholds.

Building an Accessible-first Component Library with Student Developers

Body
Web accessibility remains challenging, especially in education, where resources are limited. This presentation explores how component libraries can streamline accessible development by embedding Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) into reusable UI elements. This “trickle-down accessibility” approach ensures that student developers build inclusive websites without extensive accessibility training. By integrating accessibility directly into development workflows, teams can reduce manual audits and improve project consistency.

Our Hybrid Cloud Migration and Modernization Journey

Body
In this session, we will discuss (1) Workload Selection: how do we identify the workloads to migrate to the cloud; (2) Workload Migration: how do we acquire specialized tools and develop the skills to migrate and manage workloads across multiple environments; (3) Cloud-native Technology: how to utilize GKE for cloud-native apps including APIs, containers, and microservices to enhance agility and scalability.

From Strategy to Impact: UCSF's Journey in Building an Effective Research Recruitment Platform

Body
Utilizing our EHR Recruitment Manager (EHRMa) SalesForce platform, the Participant Recruitment Program at UCSF has sent out over 100,000 recruitment request to patients in just the last year. Our teams have spent the last 5 years building, using, and refining this platform to allow multi-channel (SMS, email, MyChart, and letter) outreach to potential research participants.

From Manual to Magical: Automating Tasks with Power Automate Desktop

Body
In today's fast-paced digital landscape, increasing operational costs and inefficiencies pose significant challenges. Microsoft Power Automate Desktop offers a cutting-edge automation solution to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and optimize resource utilization.
